May 2011 – Mia, the Burmese lady – I saw an advertisement in Los Angeles Times that showed a beautiful Burmese woman. I wanted to make a head with the general features of the woman I saw. Needless to say, I immediately realized the difficulties in rendering the exact traits from a printed image. I made the head in Pueblo clay, which is grey in its fresh state (so-called 'green ' stage). Upon being fired in the kiln, the color changes to white.
